15 Apr Badge of honour
Sherpa’s graphic designers have worked on many icons before but have never had the opportunity to create a badge of honour.
We were approached by Andrew Phillips of Sofisa Phillips to refine their logo, develop their website and design a badge of honour. You mean an icon? No, a badge of honour. A coat of arms. It soon became apparent that Andrew’s request was not a creative indulgence but that he was looking to portray purpose and what they were striving to mean in the market.
Sofisa Phillips was founded after Thembela Sofisa and Andrew took a road trip through the Eastern Cape for a mutual client. Standing on a hill in Joza Location overlooking Grahamstown, they asked each other a simple question: Who inspires you? And what would you do here to create a legacy? They were both inspired by Nelson Mandela.
“To create a nation of equals, to make a difference, for to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others for life”.
This gave birth to an infinite vision of selflessly serving towards the achievement of well-being of all, irrespective of where Sofisa Phillips operated globally.
Today, brands are increasingly looking for meaning and purpose and Sofisa Phillips certainly packed everything that they’ve got into their ‘icon’, designed by Sherpa’s Creative Director, Claire Yates.
